Maimie was born in Scotland

Maimie's fathger James Prentice (1880 - 1959) left Scotland about 1913 to settle in Shepparton East. He was to immigrate to Canada or Australia, coming to Shepparton with brother-in-law William Young to have a look before being joined by his wife Mary and daughter Maimie. Maimie's mother Mary Johnson Young (1889 - 1969) arrived in Melbourne aboard the ship Baltara <date> accompanied by her first daughter Mary Johnson Young Prentice (Maimie) and Christine Beverage, also called Aunty Tiggy. Mary's mother paid for Christine's fare to give Mary a hand with the care of baby Maimie. Mary's parents, Joseph James Young (1858-1916) and Sarah Johnston (1863-1934) also immigrated to Australia and lived down Prentice Road.

Peggy asked Maimie what she wanted for lunch. Maimie said make it a surprise. When Maimie got to work, she discovered her lunch was a sandwich with one pea.

Card parties, where the ladies would meet at night to play Solo was a great time. I remember
